has anyone experienced fuel leaking out the top of their fuel caps? i am unable to fill the tank to within 1 inch of filler neck as gas is escaping through the top of the cap. if the terrain is uneven, fuel escapes at even the half full mark. is there anyway to inspect the cap for defects?

All gas caps have an air vent, and that's where the gas is leaking out. I would guess that the biggest reason why gas is coming up is because of the design of the tank.

I have a Sentar and a couple of DC's. I keep the fuel level no higher than 1'-2' from the top and none of mine leak.

    Normal.

    Don't fill it so much.

Especially if your filling it up in the cool morning or from a cool gas pump. The heat of the day, expecially on a BLACK tank (what were they thinking?) will expand the gas and cause your problem.

Looks like you got a BLACK seat too, huh? Nice a toastie on those hot days!

"Expand the gas", That sounds like just what we need at more than $2.00 a gallon. I'm glad I have a black tank also.
