I am considering the purchase of a used Pro 50 Hydro model. Any advice on what I should be especially concerned about from experts out there would be appreciated. Any known problems with this model's engine or transmission?? There are 698 hours on the meter. Mower is offered at $1000. Thank you for your assistance.

The most important thing is the motor and as long as it was taken care of (oil changes, air filter) you should be o.k.. That price is low enough, so if anything else happens to it you could afford to invest a little money back into the mower and still be way ahead of what it cost new. I would also make sure that the deck isn't bent (you can check this by rotating the blades towards each other, the blades should be level with each other as they rotate)
