I have a 1977 Gravely 817 Garden tractor (16.5 HP opposed twin cylinder Onan engine), which is having some trouble running. It starts okay, but after running for like 2-3 mins, it starts to surge, and act like it wants to die, if I play with the choke it stays running, but only for a little while before it dies totally. Any ideas what might be the problem, and the best way to fix it?

You can pull the top off this carb. without removing it from the intake, Clean it out with carb & choke cleaner spraying through all ports and passages. Check your tank for trash/water then flush the lines and replace the fuel filter.
