    What's a good price on a barely used 521?

No they are a good solid workhorse of a locator. I have 5 of them.

would prolly go 3. in perfect condition.

for basic locating it's the easiest to use, calibrate, and get oriented to. i recently bought the pro800, and while i really like it, i've been so dialed in on the 521 that it is taking a lot of getting used too

One of the reasons that the 521 has a low resale value is Ebay, another is that they cost $40 to ship, another is that if you pay $3-400 plus shipping you can buy a pro-800 for a few hundred more.

The 521 was the backbone of irrigation locators. The problem is that the 521 has been the top shelf for Tempo, Tempo progressive, Progressive and now Greenlee. Somewhere along the line the 521a became the hot ticket.

The 521a is based on Armada's pro-600 . A new filter, external speaker and longer wand has been the only improvement to the best of my knowledge.

I have 5-521's for use as teaching aids, i believe that when teaching locating techniques everyone needs their own personal instrument in their hands.

This is in perfect like new condition coming from a buddy of mine. I was thinking along the lines of 300.00.
Are they rechargeable or do they eat D batteries?

Unfortunatly that 521 a looks like it would not last a season. I bought one, opened it , put it back in the box and took it back. Told em to order me an 800
