Recently had a customer call for Grubb problem. Being just licensed I knew I needed Dylox. 7000sq. feet....quoted her $85 and she says thats fine. Is that too high a price in most cases, or am I in the ballpark...not used to such high profit margins being mostly a maintenance guy? Paid about $35 for the material..

    A 15,000 sq/ft bag is $20.

How did you spend $35 for only 7,000 sq/ft?

Anyway, we charge $60 for curative grub control for 7,000.

Dylox 30 lb bag cost about $ 20.00. Grub rate is 10,000 sq ft or 3 lb/1,000. Sod webworm rate is 2 lb/1,000 or 15,000 sq ft. Maybe you are using a different product.

I charge $ 10.00/1,000 for grub treatment and also treat the planter beds. grubs can tear shrubs up in early spring before they get started on the turf. Looks like it might be a bad year for grubs in my area. We are seeing them already.

Because of the cost we price our grub application at a higher price than the other applications. I see a lot of companies around here taking it in the shorts for this application and offering a 6 step program with 3 or 4 being a grub and fert combo for the same price as all the other applications. Doesn't make much since and it serves as a motivation to put down something other than the grub control (to save losing money). We have serious grub problems in my area and you can tell who does this come Aug / Sept!

What we do is price the grub application double the reg app. price. For example if a reg. app. is $40.00 then the grub app is $80.00. Also if i use a combination product I add both together or $120.00, and then I only have to push the yard once. This is very profitable. Harvestman

Same here and we have had only one person in three years have a problem with it. Said that there is no way the product cost justified the charge, they left went with another company and guess what....they had grubs! We came back and fixed the grub problem for even more money and they continue to utilize our service, of course at a slightly higher rate.

    Grub Treatment

I use Merit preventive and Dylox curative. Both these product are made by Bayer. In Florida Bayer has an entomologist who's job is to scout the state and predict the best date to apply Merit. Bayer then E mails that date to those in each area of the state who sign up. Sorry degree days does not work in Florida, because of our lack of freezes.

I wish I could go all preventive. Just can't rely on anyone to know what grub damage looks like or even what a grub is!
Definitely curative on my own property.
