i found at the hardware store of all places milky spore in pelletized form. i dont remember the brand but my customer (a good one) saw an al gore movie. im told milky spore needs to build up. should i just hammer the lawn with it for a few apps. how well does this work?

It does need to build up. Apply when the soils wet and then water it in. Milky Spore works well, but the downside is it only controls japanese beetle grubs.

Needs to build up, and one good sustained drought will wipe out the spore colony and you're back to square one. If you know you have jap beetle grubs, and an irrigation system, then go for it. Otherwise...
