    I do believe parts are still avaiable for those dears. Those were the days before 6" pits were invented, most all I ever saw were direct buried, 'cause they lasted forever! :clapping:

    One reason those W*M brass valves deserve a good rep is that today's parts still fit the old valves - and I guess you can still get new solenoid seats to replace the old rubber ones
  3. Yeah you can put a hex on that solenoid port and remove it. They switched from brass to plastic but the plastic work well. The disaster was when they tried to switch to a pushed in solenoid port. Ended up having to tap threads and put in an old style port.

    Hmm, the solenoid for my tried & true 8000 series has brass threads. When did W*M change to a plastic port for brass valves? :dizzy:

    Got a call @ 9:30PM from an old client who fired me after I told him his associations irrigation is mickey moused, and that unless they were willing to renovate or start renovating their system, I couldn't help them accomplish their goal of keeping the commons green. (mixed mist heads & rotators, capped mist heads and replaced with one rotator... dang to much to mention it was FUBARED... clocks so old & broken, barely functional, etc. They got a better, cheaper bid he said and we parted ways.

    @9:30 Saturday night he told me one zone had been running all day, couldn't get his guy, etc. Well you get what you pay for;

    Guy brought the line in on he wrong side of the box, disconnected the relay to get the wire in and then jammed everything back into the box. That's when he discovered he couldn't secure the relay to the box & jammed everything in, closed & locked the lid...

    I love when crap breaks :drinkup:
