Have you ever cut your price to keep a good customer

    he wants per cut so he can tell you to skip a week here and there.

    that sounds like what it may be. Have to ask him why or maybe email him its a little less confrontational.

    If you're talking about a customer paying once a year; i don't think i could get any one of my customers to do that. Also, it'll feel like i'm not getting paid when i cut. I prefer pay after each cut; that's just me though. Just hint to him to not mention your arrangement to neighbors. He will feel like he's getting away with something.

    He's paying for a seasonal arrangement. Or once a month, 12 months a year.

    If you feel like you're not getting paid then somethings wrong.

    like others have said, you cut his price, your other clients will all hear about it

    If he is such a "great client" why is he looking for a cheaper rate, that is not my definition of a great client

    In my area if you only mowed for people that would pay monthly year around you wouldn't make it here.... There is some that like to pay monthly but 90 percent pay per cut...

    I bet I could get the majority to go with a smaller monthly payment for 12 months over a larger amount for 7-8 months.

    You do what you want but this customer's on their way out the door, so if you get smart on them by billing them the same amount per cut as per year then it won't be long before this customer wises up and is gone for good... As to whether they won't leave you any other which way, that I couldn't say.

    But help me out here...
    You asked if we have ever gave a DISCOUNT to keep a customer.
    The simple answer is yes, I sure have.
    But as things stand, you're not doing that.

    So either cut their price or know they're on their way out and have made as much clear.
    Again I couldn't say whether they'll keep you even if you do cut the price, they might not.
    But I can almost absolutely guarantee they will leave if you don't.

    I guess what im trying to say is if hes wanting a discount now what will he want down the road
    Then what are you going to do when another customer comes to you and says hay can you cut me a deal like you did with this guy
    You know they are going to talk its just a matter of when
    He may be price shopping just dont know
    Just sounds like a can of worms

    Back to your question have I ever given a discount to keep a customer
    Yes but with 20 20 hindsight I should have just let them go
