I am not the most competent person when it comes to doing anything more than routine maintenance on my machines. I bought a used Lawnaire 28...the owners manual is lacking in some very basic info such as what weight engine oil to use, how far it should read on the dip stick etc. Also thismachine works real hard since its a cam action. I always try to take very good care of my stuff. The manual says I should lube and grease this thing after 8 hrs of use??...well now that sounds a bit excessive.....anyway....if you know anything about this particular machine i would sure apprevciate any tips/info you could pass on....its about to get quite a workout the next two months and I want to make sure I've covered all the bases....thanks very much for your help
  2. I run a 4 instead of 28 but pretty sure all ryans use same type unsealed bearings thus requiring more frequent lube. So lube daily during high use, those bearings take a beating and are $ to replace.
Also keep chains clean and spray with wd-40 or similar.
Engine manual probably came seperate from ryan manual but 30w oil should be ok. Maybe post engine type for more help.

Yes,,, i've had those Ryan aireator in my rental yard...

those are just a bronze type bushing/bearing so grease them often, both on the tines and the drum....
aside from that its my opinion that these machines are great,, low and easy maintenance. we had ours forever....
