Hello I need a Hedge Trimmer that has the capability of cutting through large mass like a Watermelon. What would be a good one that can cut like a saw? preferably gas powered. Should I go with Dual reciprocating blades or what?

why not just get a chainsaw? I am sure it is the tool you are looking for. You wouldn't dig a hole with a spoon, so don't cut watermelon sized mediums with hedge trimmers.

See, you said a large mass like a watermelon. I thought of a watermelon sized mass not a watermelon itself. I think it would but getting started would be the hard part. Again, I don't know why you would want to use a tool to do a job for which other tools are much better suited. I would choose a chef's knife and be done carving the watermelon while you're still trying to get the hedge trimmers to take a bite of rind.

Why would you have the need to cut a watermelon up with hedge trimmers? :hammerhead:
