Help me get the right tool

    i need a tool that would be able to side walk edge and be Abel to cut the edge around planting beds too I'm thinking of like a string trimmer with some sorta disk blade what should i get i look at the red max one with the teeth but they wanted 550 bucks for it seems like alot.

    I think you are talking about a reciprocating edger. I used to use one but went back to the standard blade edger. The reciprocating edger worked well if there was a lot of edging to remove from along the sidewalk (for example, if you only edge monthly or annually). But for week to week I found the reciprocator did not do that well... blade edger did much better.

    From what I have seen most use the blade edger for sidewalks and either a blade edger or a string trimmer (holding it at a 180 degree) to do the beds.

    yeah I have a recriprocator. I only use it on very overgrown edges.

    so what is the best for cutting the edge for planting beds?
