I have a 18,000 sq-ft hybrid Bermuda lawn in Atlanta area. Currently I am using a John Deere 125 42" riding mower. However, the lawn always looks scalped after I mow. I figure this is probably because the lawn has been deserted for a while and let grown too high. So I gradually lowered my cut height from 2" to 1". However, it still looks yellow with all the yellow stems. And 1" is the lowest I can get on my mower. Now I plan to buy a reel mower and scalp all the yellow stems. Then I could use the ride mower to mow at 1.25" after. Do you think this a a good idea?
I saw two mowers on ads:
    1. Tru-cut c27 27" cut. Honda 5.5 HP GX with 150-200 hours on it. no catcher. $850

    2. Toro Greensmaster 1600 26" cut. 3.7 hp Kawasaki 99-00 model from a dealer. $1000

    Both ads say excellent condition.
    Which one should I choose?

We use a 25" Tru Cut reel on a couple of properties we maintain. I can attest to the fact that this machine is a beast! Sherman tank durability. Excellent quality of cut and easy to maintain. Purchased it 10 years or so ago for about $1500.00 new.
