So I did the kelly blue book value, trade in on my truck is $3500 private is $6500. Which to me sounds reasonable. My truck is a 2003 Silverado WT, it has 53k on it with the V6 engine standard cab long bed.

Now just for the heck of I went on line and checked the paper and found the exact same 03 trucks as mine but had more miles and worse condition. The prices I see both private and dealer are around $8900 what the heck is up with that? I know these trucks are worth maybe 7k only they're 15k new.

I think probably the biggest drawback is your truck is a 2wd which doesn't sell overly well. The second its a bare bones basic work truck trim.

I would say the best your going to get is 8 grand if it was a 4x4 then you would get 10 grand.

Put it up for $7000 and see if you get any takers....it does have lower miles which is a plus.

If Your Truck Is Clean As A Whistle Then It Is Probably Worth Around 7 At It's Highest. The Dealers Will Use The Excuse That The Economy Is Bad For These Trucks So They Don't Give You Jack For The Truck.....Then A Week Later They Have Your Truck On The Lot For 4 Grand More Then What They Gave You For It.....The Worst Part About This Is They Will Get Some Sucker To Come In And Pay That Much For The Truck......

If You Go To The Auctions And Things Like That You Would Be Amazed On What You Could Get A Almost New Truck There For. Just Last Week A 2007 GMC Sierra With Everything You Could Imagine In It. It Was Extended Cab Short Bed 4x4 With Only 12,000 Miles On It Sold For $13,200.00. I Couldn't Believe It.

Just Remember That Your Truck Is Only Worth What Someone Is Willing To Pay For It.

Also For Watching The Auctions...This Time Of Year Where It's Snowing And What Not...A 4x4 Will Averagely Sell For $1,500.00 More Then a Comparable 2 Wheel Drive Truck. When Summer Comes The 4x4 Will Be The Same Price As A 2 Wheel Drive.

I totally understand that my truck is cheap because its the "stripped" wt. But if it is a 7k truck how can the dealerships get away selling the same truck for $8900?

    Two Ways.
1.Either They Dont Sell It At All

    2. They Find Some Guy On The Street That Doesnt Know How To Bargin And Also Doesnt Know The Value Of The Truck
