help w/engine to deck belt

    i have a toro 44" walkbehind and need some pointers on installing this belt. am i supposed to loosin a pulley or spindle or something because this thing is hard as hell to get on.please give me a step by step aproach.

    there should be a tension bar, or tension pulley to losen up. Of course I don't know the layout of that particular model

    The spring tension is the two rods on either side of the deck frame. On older models there is a J bolt. There are 2 nuts on each
    rod. lossen both sides. Replace belt. Adjust the nuts to tighten
    the springs. When tightened the deck should move about an 1/8"

    when the belt is squeezed together.Ed

    ed im not sure i know what you are talkin about. its got a tension pulley?

    what brand mower and what engine? not all manufacturers are the same

    its a 2001 44" toro walkbehind w/15hp kawasaki belt drive

    Probably an idler to be loosened check owners manual.

    Toro has them on line. ED
