Every time I run an ad for "help wanted", I always get lots of calls. Do you guys pre-screen the potential applicants by the message that they leave, or do you respond to every caller. In other words. If they sound like someone that cannot complete a simple sentence over the phone, do you still ask them to come in and fill out an application, or do you just not return their call?

You may be required under law to provide them with an application, but that doesn't mean you have to hire them. Just make sure you follow discrimination laws. :)
I don't hire anybody that can't complete a simple phrase, or don't know their head from their rear end. If they can't have good communication skills, and costomer service skills, they'll kill your business.
