Having a problem with this in Zoysia. Whatever this is, it has appeared in only one section of turf on the property. It seems to be more present in the areas that are in the path of drainage from storm water. It does not appear to be harming the turf, as the grass is trying to grow up through it. But it does seem to be smothering the turf to some degree.

It is a crusty material that feels much like plastic. When you pull some of it up, underneath there is a white fuzzy material that resembles mold. When you step on it, it feels rubbery.

Did a drunk puke there? Seriously, the images almost look like something was spilled.

It is scattered around over a 3,000 sq ft area of turf. Mostly in the lower spots where the drains are located.

Do you have a bigger picture of the area? Maybe it's coming from somewhere else? When the water evaporates that's left.

Someone dumped some yellow paint in the grass and rinsed it out a bit?

Is this "stuff" concentrated near a particular area like a building, paved area, masonry, etc?

My contact there is the property manager who is there every day supervising any projects underway. He claims nothing could have been spilled in that area of the lawn. This problem just appeared after some heavy rains.

I'm starting to think it is some variety of slime mold, as there seem to be many different strains if you do some research.

You say it is mostly near Down spouts from the Gutters????? Could it be some kind of wash off from a bad apply of roofing material???
