I would like to get going early this year with clean-ups and de-thatching since we have had such nice weather but I am having a hard time finding yard waste sites that are open yet. Anyone else having this problem?

Do I (we) just tell customers that I can't do any work until the sites open up and I can get rid of the yard debris?

    Thanks for any insight.

We have ran into the similar problem, try and push them for scheduling when the dump opens. If the pay is good enough and you have a corner in your backyard or shop, just dump the leaves there until it opens.

I know we are starting clean ups today, the Maple Grove Yard Waste site in Maple Grove is opening early this year (Fri 10-5, Sat. 10-5, Sun 10-5).

Check your local dumps daily, they might be on the same page with opening early because of the warmer weather.

Isn't it a little wet out there?

The Maple Grove site lists April 1st as the opening date, is that earlier than usual? I'm in Plymouth and they don't open until April 7th.

I like to de-thatch in the spring but while I'm waiting for the dumps to open, people are applying crab grass preventer which kind of screws me since I can't de-thatch after it is put down.

So do the city's let you guys dump in there facilities for free even though you're doing it for profit and possibly not even a citizen of that particular city.

I've had no luck with that even after offering to pay?

Do you guys not have your trucks lettered up so they just don't realize your a business?

It seems that there are more and more guys running around with no identification on there trucks, I have to assume this is what you guys are doing to be able to get around that.

I had to do a double take myself, I drove past the entrance and they had a sign posted out front saying they were opening this weekend.

No, surronding residents of the citys are allowed at the dump also. Those listed residents are able to dump free of charge. I am sometimes allowed to dump free, depending on whose working and who I can make laugh. All my trucks are lettered so I dont have a way of hiding it. I know a few guys that have 2 or 3 trucks unlettered as a part of their fleet just for that reason. :nono:

I tried it in my first year but after being at the dump 3-4 times a day, they caught on and I let that go. :hammerhead:
