Hey, I was just looking on the Stihl website, and they seem to no longer make the FS 85, my best piece of equipment. I thought that was the most popular Professional trimmer :realmad:

The FS-85 is gone due to the EPA....

Now Stihl only offers a 4 mix in that size range....they can't get their 2 cycle equipment past the EPA...

You might want to consider RedMax or Echo as they do sell quality 2 cycle trimmers...

you need to step down to a FS 80 or over to a FS 100 or 110.

The 4-mix FS-110 is the replacement for the FS-85. I have both the FS-85 and the FS-110 and the 110 is much more powerful than the 85 and the power comes on sooner in the rpm curve. I have about 200 hours on my 110 and have had no problems.

We just bought 4 FS100's and they are LIGHT. We have 110's too, same motor just heavier. You will love the torque and lower noise of the 4-mix.

The FS80's are the same as the 85, just have a flexible shaft instead.
I bought a couple of new FS85's last season to put up. I like them better for regular maintenance than I do my 110.
