Bidding a praire art council building. Nothing to great but 4 bids. Low bid $20 / cut. My bid $52.50 / cut. Maybe an hour to hour in half of mowing. They call me today and asked to meet - showed me all the bids, said we want you so we don't have to worry about others showing, not showing, trimming etc. I couldn't believe it!

Another bid went out. 3 people bid - Bids ranged from $22.50 - $50.00 / mow. I was the highest again - they accepted my bid. They liked my proposal, meeting with them when they wanted, they knew we had the equipment, it worked out well.

I know nothing real big but yeah - it is grass to mow at a fair price to us!

Although I did miss a bid. Major oil processing plant. 2 years ago - $140 / mow. Bids went out - winning bid - $55.00 / mow. My bid $155.00. I didn't get that one! But at $55 - good luck but how stupid!

I'm new to doing bids. How did you make your proposal. Did you type it up. Spell out exactly what you were going to do for the money ect. Did you have to tell them at a meeting or over the phone. I want to bid on some local municipality stuff and was wondering how to write it up. Thanks of any help you seem to know what to do.

It was 55 a cut but they get free gas for the year. You messed up:hammerhead:

    Wouldn't that be great!:)

Congrats on getting the other work. Good to see some customers know the value of good work and not just low bid.

I had that happen to me too. I was $500.00 over the other two bids for mulch install. They said mine was a little high but we have seen your work on some of our friends homes and they look very nice.
