I was using one of my 21" Honda HXR217TDA. I hit a large piece of steel and the machine jumped. I shut it off immediatly, but when I went to restart it, it vibrated likle crazy. So, i shut it down and used a differant mower.
I came home and pulled the blades off, they were damaged pretty bad, but i tried to start it with the blades off and it would not start.

Do you think i cutthe key? Or did i bend the crank?

Get a brand new blade and put it on, you probably just bent it, and it won't start without a blade because it's also your flywheel heh. Do that, then if it doesn't work we can troubleshoot further.

The honda push mowers wont start with the blade removed. Buy a new blade, put it on and you should be good. The blade is belt drive so you may not have bent the spindle shaft.

The blade is not belt drive!

Put on a new blade, unplug the sparkplug, when mower is on the side turn blade around. Does the new blade line up in the same spot from one side of the blade to the other? If its lower on one side than the other your shaft is bent.

it's a 21" so it's not a belt driven blade... put a new blade on it and give it a try. if it starts and vibrates you bent the crankshaft. if it won't start you sheared the key and it's out of time now. either way it sounds like a you are going to have to tear into it.

Thanks guys. The crazy thing is...the new blades cost $40, and a new crankshat is $40. Go figure.
