I was wondering how often you replace your receivers. It seems that mine is wearing out and its able to rock around while pulling. Every time I stop or start it clunks because its able to move. Has anyone else seen this. The receiver is rated 7500, so is the ball. My trailer averages about 4000lbs. Thanks for any advice. :)

i have never heard of wearing a hitch out, but i suppose it would be possible under really extreme circumstances. how much play does it have?

I have the factory installed hitch assembly on my '04 Ram 2500, and it does the same thing. Also, had the same thing happen to the previous truck, a '00 ram 1500, with factory installed hitch. Maybe they are making them that way, so that they won't rust in place. Maybe ???

Do you know what brand of hitch/receiver combo you had. Mine is a Shelton/Reese

i would not sweat that. if the holes were wallowed out 1/4 or 3/8 inch, then maybe. 1/8 inch is nothing. if you do replace it, ship me the old one. i'll use it for the next 20 years :)

I would not worry about a 1/8 either. This is my third truck with class 5 and i pull a hell of a load.
