I've never hung any holiday lighting...I have done some Christmas lights though.

we're not in NJ but we do a little bit of holiday lighting for both residential and commercial so here are a few points from my perspective for what its worth:

    - its still a difficult sell
    - we try to get the stuff up no later than thanksgiving
    - wish I never started doing this because given the revenue it generates its not worth the hassle as it gets in the way of finishing leaf removal
    - pricing it is a swag..no way to know exactly how much time a new account will take to decorate
    - be aware that call-backs will likely be necessary when a string goes out...and its usually when its about 15 degrees with a wind chill below zero
    - taking them down in January is not my idea of fun (make sure YOU are the one who packs them away as you can then mark which ones go where for next year and so they are not tangled which will save you time next year.)

I would think long and hard if you really want to get into this add-on service.
