I have a Honda 21" HRX 217 mower and I'm trying to figure out the height adjustments in inches. There are 7 notches for the front and rear to lower or heighten the cut. Does anyone know what these notches amount too in inches?

Also, should I cut with the same height in the front and rear or have a slight pitch with one being lower than the other?

Your owners manual has a section in it that tells you your height by the notches. Mow at the same height, No pitch :usflag:

Does mowing at different heights cause a problem?

When you pitch the deck, you don't get an even cut. And its not a quality cut.

I have HRX 217 for mowing my own front lawn. This is a very good mower, some of its features Honda should have incorporated on 2005 redesigned commercial hydro 21. This mower mulches par excellence.

7 mowing heights -3/4 inch to 4 inch's.Basically 1/2 inch increments, with an oddball adjustment from height adjustment 2 to 3 of 3/4 inch.

Thanks for the information! It looks like I was mowing at 3" like I thought!
