Hoof and Pierce were one in the same back in the day, Fill to level of oil check valve with SAE 30 engine oil for summer and SAE 10 for winter.....

Thanks Restrob. I'm helping a friend restore an old chipper, and ran into that question. I'm in Sanford, Fl you helped me with a carb problem before, do you thing it get's cold enough here to warrant changing to 10W in the Winter?

I didn't notice where your at, I'm 165 miles NW of you and have never ran nothing but 30W so you should be fine with that year round.
