Just mowed less than a hour yesterday with new Scag Wildcat. When I finished I noticed that some grease had exited spindles ( pop off I guess) and that all spindles were very hot, unconfortable to touch. Is this level of heat normal?

Yes it is, least that is the way my scag is in this heat. I finished my route one day last week and drove 15 miles, got home and backed the mower off the trailer and changed blades and I couldnt hold the bolt in my hands, it was still that hot.
