When purchasing a used mower, what is a reasonable amount of hours on the mower before getting cautious on the purchase? I know this may vary based on the year of the mower, but is there a rule of thumb for this?

    Thanks in advance.

Your question will have many answers. Its difficult to make a blanket statement because there are always exceptions, and the commercial units will last many many years. I've seen equipment with 2000+ hrs on them running like a charm and 500-600 doing the same thing. Perform the regular maintenance and it will last.

as said before... Depends on the mower, as well as the owner and how well it was maintained. my mower with 1000 hours on it may be in the same condition as the next guy's with 250 hours... but he never changes his fluids, and has never greased the thing, keeps it outside ect.
