Can anybody tell me how big and thick the roots get on a river berch and a dense yew.....Thanx....
Its hard to say...the river birch will have alot of near the surface roots, while the yew will have a monster main tap root. Alot depends on growing conditions, such as soil type, available water, etc.
Both are huge and close to the house, that's what I'm worried about... They were at the house when we bougth it and have been here a long time, but I got afraid one or the other may try to grow into my foundation.. They are planted next to the garage which is a slab........
Id be more concerned with the yew than I would the birch.
I think I'm going to pull them out, I hate to lose my birch though It really sets my house off....
Birches are pretty shallow. I would leave the birch and nix the yew. Can you dig around the foundation to see where/if there are any roots from the birch going that way???
I think that what I'll do...... Thanx..... Kyle D.
