    I am starting to create my web site. I have been trying to add PayPal payments but have been having a hard time. If I use the PayPal tools directly they make me specify what the amount of payment will be.

    Is there an easy way to create a front end that will allow my customers to enter the amount that they owe?

    Thanks,

    you'll need to familiarize yourself with html form inputs if you want to allow customers the ability to enter their own information, and then determine how you want to process that input (through scripting languages such as perl, php, asp...) pm me if you'd like to discuss more.

    with paypal the only way you will be able to allow the user to input the amount directly themselves is if you use the donate tab creator... you may say but I dont want the tab to say donate, simple go to MS Paint or Photoshop/fireworks/flash whatever you want and then create a button to use as the link image
    what you will have to do is find this line in the paypal code
    PHP:
    <input type="image" src="http://www.yourbusinessname.com/images/x-click-but22.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure!" width="87" height="23">
    and change the "http://www.yourbusinessname.com/images/x-click-but22.gif" to your image on the server that you want to use as the paynow button, any image can be used
