Any method that is better than using the blower?
Bag'em with a mower, works really well for me.
Just bagging doesn't work for me. Using a JRCO dethatcher and bagging helps. Sometimes just blow them into a pile and rake 'em up.

roll around on the ground wearing a sweater...
I have a lawn sweeper. Picks em right up and throw's them in a little bag/bucket thing. It is a pull behind, like a trailer, so all I have to do is hook it up to my rider and just mow as usual. works great, $250 at northren tool
I use the same machine that they use at the driving range to pick up golf balls
Power broom? We don't have sweetgums around here but it's what I use for large concentrations of nuts.
Might wanna take that nut sweeper through Washington DC next time you're in town.
ahahhahahahah...took me a minute but I got it.
cooking tongs, like the kind for grilling.
