how late to de-thatch zoysia in mo.

    hey guys(girls) is it to late to power-rake/de-thatch zoysia.? if not what would be a good machine.(besides the ole' back) ;) thanks ,kevin

    De-thatch zoysia? I have never de-thatched zoysia. Well. not with a dethatcher anyway. I always "scalp" my Zoysia and Bermuda in the early spring. Cut it way way low,1 1/2" to 2". The dead grass (clippings) have to be bagged. If you just cut it and dont bag it..well, you know what that looks like,plus that will lead to thatch,big time. Zoysia is just now almost greened up, it always greens up last here (AR). Is it too late too de-thatch or scalp? No. Better late than never!
