I overseeded last Saturday but the grass that was there is starting to need mowing. How long do I have to wait, if it would help I can wait a while but I'm not sure if it matters on way or another.

When I seed: I aerate, spread seed/starter fert, then hit the lawn with a roller half filled with water to get the seeds pressed down. I water light and frequent for 7-10 days.

After that I will mow, but during this time I mulch so the seeds and any sprouts are not sucked out of the ground. After 4 mulching mows , I go back to bagging or side discharching. Never had an issue, honestly I think the mulched clippings help keep the seed down during any rain.

This being said, when I do seed, I seed HEAVY.

Also, get that blade sharpened and balanced so you are not damaging any of the new sprouts when you do mow.
