Hey just wanted to see how many cuts per year everyone is doing. I am trying to keep it where I come out at least once a month in the winter, but it seems the lawns dont reallly need it. I live in GA. on the coast. Not many leaves, grass goes dormant. Any response would help. Thanks

Man I wish. Here I get 28, my goal is to fert a little earlier and apply more N in the fall and get 30. More work for me and the clients love having the first and last green lawn.

Fall Fertilization will green up in the spring earlier but you have to look at the cost vs extra work.

I don't do residential but my Partner does have a res business, he mows once in Feb twice in March, pretty much off to the races from April ~ Nov with a mowing in December. He tells everyone it is to make it look nice for the holiday.

It turns out to be around 34 to 35 cuts for the most part. Then he does Christmas lights and fall clean ups which helps carry work until early Jan with a week off for Christmas. Then he offers Aeration/scalp/ Fertilization in Feb. Flowers and Beds in March.

He has made his res in to a 12 month operation with just a few weeks of down time close to Christmas and Jan. Her also tells people that Jan ( which is true) it is best to trim the trees at that time.

We have centipede grass here mostly. Most people want every 2 weeks. Half of mine are weekly. Oct. began weeklys to every 2 and Bi-weeklys to once a month then nov. everyone wants me to stop.

Perfect Lawn, where in Coastal GA are you located?

I am in the Savannah area, and I write service agreements with up to 43 visits per year, year around. The 43 visits does every week, March thru Oct, and every 2 weeks Nov to Feb. In the winter months, we still edge the drives and walks, and either ride the mowers over the lawn to mulch leaves and/or blow all of the leaves off of the turf to keep things clean thought the winter. It also includes picking up fallen limbs from the winter winds. I have only had about 4 customers ask to discontinue service for the winter. Some of my bi-weekly accounts only get visited once a month in the winter.

Let me know where you are, maybe we can get together sometime and help each other out.
