How many fittings can you use?

I was doing a repair job today to deal with freeze damage and I pulled out and redid these valve manifolds. I've never seen a valve manifold with so many fittings or so complicated.
First picture, no backflow, just a main shut off valve that is way too high, plus its plastic :dizzy:

    Second picture, new backflow installed

    Third, another screwy valve manifold

    Fourth, once its cut out.

i especially like the 1 by 1/2" sprinkler tee with the 1/2" street 90 installed facing down then going under the pipes.....

  4. When you see something like that you cringe wondering how the heads are layed out. I suspect that place is screaming for a new install.

That would be the sprinkler head that waters the inside of the valve box.

Well, I cut out the screwy manifolds and I'm putting a new standard manifold in. But I'm not redoing the whole system. Given the lay of the land, it would not be practical to do so.
