I have always heard that Scag's DFI motor was great on fuel but I keep reading threads on here about guys saying it uses 2 gallons per hour, and Scag rates it at 1.6 per hour. WTF??? My Gravely 260Z with a 27 Kohler has been averaging 1.29 (5.4 hours out of 7 gallons). This was averaged in cutting mostly rough conditions (wet, double cutting,etc.). So what gives? What are you guys getting on your mowers?

I have exact gallons per hour on my two Turf Tigers.
One runs a 27 hp Kohler and the other is a Kaw. 27 hp liquid cooled.
Between two jobs, one is flat out mowing,,, ball fields etc and the other is a very hilly park,, the best was 1.1 gallons per hour and the worst was 1.3 gallons per hour.
The mowers were full at the start of each job and refilled at the end of mowing.
I did this so I could really figure out what my operating cost were,, at least for the gas consumption.
Still trying to figure out what to set aside for long term maintenance and replacement.
    Hope this helps.
