As far as service goes, do you find that it always "better" to have 2 (1 tech,1 helper)service guys in a truck or 1? I say "better" because i'm not so sure that during the rush season it's always more profitable but I know that all the scheduled work gets done(most of the time) which is very important in reducing the amount of rescheduled work which = unhappy customers.

What do you find works better?

Depends on the job, but I say one tech per truck. If you need two, then someones got their head up their @ss (eg. training time).

Ditto....Have seen too much standing around with two unless the owner
happens to be on the site.

Ditto as well. One per truck. At least for residential service. If it's commercial, with many zones, one guy can start assessing and flag, and second guy can go behind and repair. On residential there is a lot of standing around for second guy and HO won't want to pay for it. I wouldn't.
