How many miles are to many?

    You're telling me. I constantly search craigslist for a diesel truck full well knowing that there is no way I should buy one because I am 20 and just getting into the business world and also have an assload of student loans. But a big diesel truck is just so cool.... haha

    That thing sure doesnt look like it has 245k, But that is a huge amount of miles on the frame and other components, not neccesarily the motor

    Don't get an lb7 duramax if your on a budget.. $300 an injector hurts! + install. Average life? 100k

    I won't buy over 140k and won't own past 150k. Main concern is bearings and seals.

    If that truck is as solid as it looks it would be gone in a heartbeat around here. The body on my 97 Cummins was shot at 120k miles. Once you get the tranny and front end taken care of there a good truck that are cheap to keep on the road.

    It's the young kids who don't have anything to pull or haul that ruin the truck prices. ( not saying anyone in this thread). When spoilded kids parents buy them these trucks it drives the price up.... That truck around here would be 16 grand. If not 20.

My nephew bought a newer Duramax... not a pot to piss in or a thing to pull, but he had to have it. Problem is when they break...It hurts.[/QUOTE] You are right on the money with most young diesel owners. I'm 19 and I drive a diesel but I pull a mini ex ,skids ,tractors , mowers and hay all the time I'm pulling something. But there's nothing like boost launching at red lights.

    It's not young kids driving diesel trucks that are boosting the prices up it is pre emissions diesels increasing in value...

    That's the truth.. Prices are thru the roof on duramax and cummins and 7.3 power strokes. But the 6.0 and 6.4 powerstrokes are going for less than most 98 cummins with 250k miles..

    I would snatch up a lariat 6.0/6.4 and laugh all the way to the bank after a little bulletproofing

    If you can find a cheap 6.0, I would pick one up and get your hands dirty a little bit. Find out what needs to be done to make the thing "Bulletproof" and have the shop do it and you may still be ahead money wise on most other trucks you could have bought. The 6.0 and 6.4's are nice motors, Ive driven in both and you will love em to move around equipment.
