I was just wondering how many use bid books with unit prices for their work. We used to use on we compiled and it made it very quick and easy to do a bid. I also knew other contractors who calculated every inch of digging and bid time.

We had Irrigation ,Lighting, G/C, shrubs and tree planting, Big trees (over 36" box), Salvage plants and cacti, Drainage and sealing, Boulders and granite, Hardsacaping, and fountains and water feature chapters. It was very nice.

So how do most of you bid your work.

We use something similar to what you are talking about but it is a customized version of Microsoft Excel. It has all of our commonly used materials with installation figured into the unit price.

You have to do them yourself it just saves you time from calculating the same items over and over again.
