I have not done much sod installations as of yet, but a few small patch jobs. I've been wondering at the price of sod, which is quality looking stuff I am getting, why would people want to spend so much on seeding bare areas?

I was just curious on what you guys are paying for your sod?

I'm getting 9 sq. ft rolls for $1.40 each

Does this sound about right, high, low?

I don't have much experience with it, and I am trying to learn as I go.

Thanks for the help, as always.

Bluegrass. Nice and fresh, fields they grow it are about 30 minutes away, and they have an outlet close to me here, so it comes in nice and damp.

While I'm asking, about how much do you guys charge for installation per roll.

I know establishing a new lawn, and piecing 4 rolls are different, but just to get some feedback.

Yesterday, ripped out 3 dead rolls, prepped soil better, and installed 3 rolls for $40. Total about 45 minutes.

Here in Central Florida I go straight to the sod farm and get 4 pallet (400 sq ft each) price of $60 per pallet. They say 400 sq ft but it is always more. Under 4 pallets is $72. Both are plus tax and $5 per pallet deposit on the actual pallet.

The sod comes in 1x1.5 sq ft blocks. This is for Floratam but Bahaia, zoy and the others are somewhat similar.

Getting it delivered is $120-135 per pallet.

When I get it myself (always) I charge my client $90 per pallet for the grass and $125 per pallet to throw it. If I need to strip out old sod or other major prep that is extra.
