Just wondering how much you charge for a basic service call.

Let say you go out - 30 minutes there and 30 minutes to your next call.
You go out and change one par 36 and one MR 16 and reset the timer and you are there for 20 minutes.

    I will charge
    $50 service call
    $15 for par 36
    $7 for MR16

$72 total- is this in line with what you charge -more or less.

I was thinking about going up to $75 per call minimum.

I am in the metro Atlanta area. Maybe more rural areas are more or less.

At least a 1 hour minimum and 2x cost on lamps.

mr 16's are costing me almost what your selling them for.

This is a trick question. You cant base your overhead on what the next guy charges. You have to know your cost of doing business and what that service call is going to cost you and factor in all your overhead.

As sean said 2x the cost of lamps. That may work for him. Im a bit different price and a 10k hour bulb from me is 12.75

Service calls are based on a 1 hour minimum. If I make a warranty call they get an invoice that shows ZERO

I know what you mean - I do know what it costs me to do it I just wanted to see what the market was like in other places.

As for the MR16s-I get the Ushio 5k hour or the Prism BAB and they work great. It has been my experience that the 10k hour bulbs dont last any longer than the 5k. It is the same with the 20 watt bi-pin - the 10k hours never make it that long. That is just my experience, so I am more than 2x my money on that.

I have a question. For those who do a service contract, how do come up with the amount? per fixture.??? tree lights any different than those on ground or is it all about lamps?

We charge $75/Hr. across the board. As for bulbs, we charge $18 for MR's and bi-pins, and $22 for Pars. For any other service it's straight time and materials.
