Hello, just wondering how much to expect to spend in gas each year?

I plan on mowing up to 30 units 30 times a year. All within 20 miles from eachother. I will get about 14 MPG in my truck.

I understand it will be different for each LCO, but how much do yuo guys spend each year?

i don't keep up with truck gas costs. you get more of a refund if you claim mileage instead.

i only keep up with edger, mower, trimmer, and blower gas costs and report that on taxes.

i only spend around $2500-$3500 on mower gas. not counting truck gas since i claim mileage.

i'm solo so that makes a huge difference. someone with 20 crews is gonna have a super high gas bill.

alot depends on what kind of mower you use, what kind of trimmer, etc.

too many variables to get a clear answer.

i use a 26hp engine where as other guys use 34hp so they are gonna use more gas and yet other guys have diesel or efi engines.

i also use 4 stroke honda trimmer so it uses half as much gas as a 2 stroke trimmer.

i also drive a 4 cyl truck so i get about 20mpg average instead of most guys with v8s that get 10-14mpg average. anyways like i said you get more of a refund claiming mileage instead of gas on your truck.

too many variables to know what your costs are gonna be.

I generally burn around 700$ per month during peak season.

    $7900 in the trucks.
    $3000 in equipment.

Not really going to tell you anything. Each operation is different. Last year was 1 truck full time with occasional use of a second. This year is 2 trucks full time.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah i know it's kinda all over the place. Just trying to figure out an estimate of how much money i would be putting into this business, once i get it going, on a yearly basis. I'm estimating about $5,000 a year in truck fuel and $4,000 a year for the gas for all the equipment. For my small time business, i think this is about right.

    I take the $.55 a mile also.

Though everyone needs to track the cost of gas that they put in their trucks. Other wise no one will be able to know the true cost of operating their business.
