Check the weight restriction on your trailer tongue and also for your vehicle. Of course dry weight will be different than a wet load. Rocks and gravel will differ from mulch.

Your supplier should be able to approximate bucket load weights of their different bulk products for you.

From the dimensions, I would estimate 1.48 yards of product.

Length x width x height divided by 27 gives you 1.48 round up to 1.5 yards.

Thats flat across. If you mound it up some I'm sure you could get it another half yard on there.

Just have a decent cover to throw over it and strap it down.

NewEarth brings up a good point check the weight rating on the trailer. I'm not familiar with that size trailer.

Chances are that 1 yard of topsoil or crushed stone and you'd be well over weight limit for a 5 x 8.

Sorry...now I see that you specifically asked about mulch...I can get 8 yards on mine no problem. Mulch weight max is about 1,000 lb per yard...usually probably more in the 700 to 800 lb ballpark depending on the material and moisture. Something like a bark mulch will be on the lower end and something like double ground hardwood on the higher end. You could fit 2 on your trailer if you heaped it a bit but as others have mentioned, you need to make sure your truck and trailer can handle the weight.
