Got a play ground job. Owner wants me to bring in new pea gravel and spread out. lot to small to use a small tractor or bob cat but to big that its a big job by hand. We gonna use rakes and wheel bars. Figure I need to hire 2 people. Im not paying for gravel they got that cover. But I figure 85.00 an hour. Whats is your thoughts on this?

Gravel is back breaking and I have found that it always takes longer than I thought. Your per dollar charge sounds right but be careful estimating how many hours it will take. Also make sure your helpers have strong backs.

At least it shovels easy and 2 guys working well together could do it in one 8 hour clip or less... could try 2 wheelbarrows and a 3rd guy raking it out, then 1 wheelbarrow and 2 rakers as needed... could be a morning job... Just some thots... :)

Are you sure it's too small to get a compact tractor/loader in there...I mean it's big enough for a playground. I get my tractor into some pretty tight spots. I just need a 6 foot wide aisle.

if possible i would use 1 man and a dingo.? or get the customer to agree on a T&M number.

    The better question would be:

    How did it go... :)
