I am 16 almost 17 years old and I have been cutting grass for about 3 years but this year I got alot of new accounts and I am thinking about hiring a helper. I know a kid that is 15 years old and is a pretty good worker. He has cut some grass before but I would have to show him the way I do things. How do you think I should pay him: by yard or hour, and how much do you think. PS all of my lawns are residental and adverage size.

I would guess $8/hr would keep him pretty happy.

I say you offer him a nice starting salary of mid 70's, company truck, 401K, full family medical, paid holidays, 3 weeks vacation, unlimited sick leave, company stock options, and tuition reimbursement...that should get his attention

If he doesn't take it, I will.

Don't hire him...if he gets hurt you will have huge liabilities. Must be 18 to operate power mowers.

Now, you could of course hire him to weed whack.

Depending your location $6 to $9 per hour...also depending on his abilities and attitude.

    Good luck with your business.
