I've got lesco double eagle rye down and grown to near 3 inches and it's ready for the first cut. Is it too soon to apply an app of urea at 1#/1000 ?? It's supposed to rain tomorrow.

If you are applying 1 lb of 46% urea that would not hurt anything. 1 lb of N ~2 lbs urea would be pushing it.

If N is all it needs, two to three pounds of Urea is just fine this time of the year. Thats only 1 to 1.5 pounds of N per 1000.

Concentrate on your root growth instead of your top growth. A healthy lawn starts underground.

I would apply a more balanced fertilizer, with urea all your getting is nitrogen and it will promote only top growth and set you up for disease problems when its hot and humid in a month or two.
