how thick to figure

    When you are top dressing an existing mulched area how thick do you figure to estimate your material?

    It depends on the condition of the existing mulch. If it is in good shape, probably 2 inches of new mulch would be ok, if it is deteriorated then I would go with 3 inches.

    Right almost impossible to go just one inch anyway. Two is hard enough to lay down evenly throughout an area. So always figure three.
