How to adjust carb on Echo SRM-225?

    I have a SRM-225 and I have recently noticed when I have it at full WOT it doesn't seem to be as high as it was when I purchased it last year.

    Idle is fine.

    Any idea where the high idle screw is?

    This is what I have always done to set the high...

    While running at WOT, adjust the high screw to richen up the mixture. Turning CCW richens the mixture and CW will lean the mixture. Explore the adjustment range and find the "sweet spot" setting where it runs good and pefectly smooth at full RPM at WOT.
    Richen the mixture about 1/8th of a turn from this sweet spot setting to set the mixture slightly on the rich side.

    Did you try looking at a parts manual? So you can see whats what.

    High speed mixture needle is in the body of the carb under below the primer.

    That brass collar with the plastic plug in it - thread a sheet metal screw in there and pry it out with a pair of side-cutter pliers. The whole brass thing can go, it just holds the plug.

    Then you can adjust your "non-adjustable" carb.

    All set.. local shop took care of removing the plug and tuned the carb since it needed it after the breakin period.

    Does it run better? Mine still runs fine (2 hrs old), but my PB-250 blower needs to be adjusted....way too lean at low & mid throttle openings when accelerating.

    All I can say is night and day. The tech guessed the model trimmer I had based on my description of the issue. He said all the new SRM225i need to be adjusted after their initial breakin period and the emissions regulators hide the high needle. He used a special tool to adjust and tune. Once completed by law he had to put the plug back in the carb.

    It runs amazingly better since being re-tuned after break-in period.

    Cool, I gotta tackle my blower then. Oh, my trimmer is 2 years old, not 2 hrs; strange it still runs fine....but it could probably be improved with some mixture adjustment anyway

    Since it was still under warranty, my dealer adjusted the carb on my PB-250....it runs like new again. He originally told me if the blower fell within a certain serial number range he wouldn't even adjust it - he would put a new carb on it due to some internal problems on the carbs. Nevertheless, I'm back in action again after mixture adjustment only.

    My blower runs so well I may have to adjust my SRM-230 carb...
