I live in Maryland and recently purchased a home that has Zoysia grass in the front lawn. Yesterday was a rather seasonal cool day so I raked the grass with a thatch rake.

    What should I do next?

Also, I have some bare spots in my grass. How can I patch the gaps in the grass?

    Thanks in advance.

alls you have to do is take some plugs from a good part of the lawn and place them in the bare spots. it will take some time to fill in but it will.

I assume the preferred time is fall instead of early spring, right?

I would say spring, so they have the summer to grow and spread.

Gotta love Zoysia.Spread sand in the bare areas. The Zoysia will run into the sand, just like bermuda.Don't have to plug it.Keep it cut around 1.5 to 1.75 inches.Level any low spots with,..........more sand.A properly cared for Zoysia lawn will require no pesticides. It grows so thick,at least down here, that no weed can grow.Keep your mower blades sharp!
