How to figure backfill?

    I have a project I need help figuring how much 4-6 inch rock I need to backfill. The project is a 225 feet long x 25 feet tall creek bank stabilization project. I am going to leave 6 inches of space behind the gabion baskets to backfill with 4-6 inch rock. How do I go about figuring how much rock I need? Thanks

    Also, I could use a suggestion on stacking these this high. My last project bid was only 6ft tall, this is more or less 25-30ft (havent measured height yet.) I'm thinking 2-3 rows for stacking. Has anyone done a gabion basket wall this high before? Any suggestions? Thanks

    for liability issues I would recommend you consult an engineer.

    length times width, times depth in inches, times .0031 will give you net cyds.

    i got a hair under 105 cyds

    Hey I already got it. It came out to 1500 tons of rock total because the bank was 36 feet. The problem is, its for a lawyer and she only wants to spend a couple hundred bucks on it. She don't understand gabion baskets are expensive. Once I told her the price she bitched and cried so this project is probaly a no go.
