how to get line patterns on lawns?

    I have a john deere 345 garden tractor 54" cutting deck. I wondered, can I do those straight line or checkerboard patterns on my customers lawns?? If so, how and what do you need for it? a roller? or is it the way you do it?


    any tips would greatly be appreciated

    Most mowers will stripe without anything on the mower but the ones with rollers have more noticable stripes. All you need to do is mow the lawn like usual. Go up the lawn and then make the next past back down next to the previous one.

    also some grasses wont stripe

    what you want to do is push the grass in the direction you're mowing more how you do that is up to you. since you have a tractor and not a commercial mower i dont know that you can do it as well, but i would reccomend a mud flap right behind the deck from the end of one tire to the other

    no problem.i always wondered the same thing too, until i found out through here. if it works then you may want to o to the scags striping website and find out the best ways and to make it look like you striped through something, heres the link...
