how to get rid of worms

    i think i have worms in my yard i have bumps all over the place.

    is there anything i can put on there to get rid of them?

    You never want to get rid of earthworms. They are the most important organisms living in your soil.

    Yep, earthworms, actually referred to as "night crawlers" when they get BIG enough to push up the mounds. Actually they are castings, part of the worms digestive process. They are BAD around here but there's not much one can do. Some lawns are bad enough that they are horrible to mow and people can't even really walk or play in the lawn because of the uneven-ness of it. Since the castings are actually harder then just plain dirt mounded up they take longer to smooth out again, and they do, over time, with hard rains.

    There ARE several products out there that "inadvertently" are TOXIC to earthworms. They are plain "over the counter" type chemicals available at any home center. For the sake of mother nature I will skip posting the chemicals, though I have posted a pamphlet from KSU on the subject a while back...

    earthworms are very beneficial! they aerate your lawn for free!
